Skateboard Maintenance Tips

At Globe, we build our skateboards with the finest hard rock maple decks, precision trucks, and high-quality wheels — built to perform and made to last. With the right care and maintenance, your setup will stay solid session after session.

1. Keep Your Setup Tight

Check and tighten all nuts and bolts — including trucks, wheels, and deck screws — to keep your ride smooth and secure. Loose hardware can mess with your board’s feel and safety.

2. Clean Your Bearings

Pop off your wheels and give those bearings some love.
Use a proper bearing cleaner or isopropyl alcohol, dry them well, and finish with a drop of bearing oil for that smooth, fast roll.

3. Rotate Your Wheels

Swap your wheels front-to-back and side-to-side every few weeks.
This helps them wear evenly and keeps your setup feeling fresh longer.

4. Check Your Deck

Keep an eye out for cracks, chips, or signs of delamination.
If your deck’s getting soft or splitting, it’s time for a new one — a damaged board can mess up your tricks and your safety.

5. Keep Your Grip Fresh

Your grip tape is your connection to the board — keep it clean!
Use a wire brush or grip cleaner to remove dust and grime for maximum traction and control.

6. Swap Out Worn Parts

Don’t wait too long to replace worn wheels, bearings, bushings, or grip tape.
Fresh parts keep your setup performing at its best and make every session feel smoother.

7. Store It Smart

Keep your skateboard in a cool, dry place, away from humidity or extreme heat.
Avoid garages or damp basements — moisture is your board’s worst enemy. Even a 7-ply deck built with epoxy resin can slowly absorb moisture if stored in humid conditions.
Over time, this can make your deck feel softer, lose pop, and respond less sharply — especially noticeable in street or technical skating.

Protect Your Board

  • Store in a dry, ventilated space (below 60% humidity if possible).

  • Never leave your board in cars, garages, or damp spots.

  • After skating in the rain, wipe it down completely — top and bottom.
